Local testing essentials for Brazilian INMETRO lithium battery certification
Designated bodies, local sampling, arranging the importer as applicant, and lead-time expectations.
Brazilian certification must be handled by an INMETRO-designated certification body (OCP). Testing normally has to be completed at an accredited local or mutually recognised laboratory, though some items can be waived against existing IEC reports. The applicant must be a Brazilian legal entity, usually the importer. Lead time is driven mainly by sampling and factory assessment scheduling — allow 10 to 18 weeks.
