Indian BIS: four things to confirm before applying
Whether the product is in the compulsory scope, the standard edition, local testing arrangements and the AIR requirement.
First, confirm whether the product is listed in the compulsory registration scope and which IS standard edition applies. Second, confirm that testing must be completed at a BIS-recognised laboratory — overseas reports are generally not accepted. Third, prepare factory details and proof of the manufacturing address. Fourth, appoint an Authorised Indian Representative (AIR). The scope and requirements change, so re-check the latest notifications before project kick-off.
